Severn Trent Water had a health and safety problem where loose concrete was dropping from the ceilings of pumping stations in Derbyshire. Operators visiting these sites had to wear hard hats to avoid being hurt. There were 16 of these pumping stations that required concrete repairs & they were in very isolated places with difficult access.
MSC, using 4x4 vehicles, accessed the sites and supplied their own power and water on each site. We removed all the damaged concrete with Hilti Needle guns and ground down the steel RSJ's with carbarundurum discs on vacuum assisted 5" grinders. We cut out all the cracks to enable them to be filled effectively. We treated the exposed steel with a corrosion stopping liquid. On the RSJ's we trowelled on two layers of our system for steel. On the ceiling we trowelled into the voids a light weight but structurally strong repair mortar followed by two coats of a protective skim. The finished system carries a 20 year guarantee.
