Two local businesses have joined forces to reach a 5 Star Quality Standard. After a routine health and safety inspection by Macclesfield Borough Council The Village Restaurant in Prestbury was instructed to refurbish the kitchen floor & drainage system as The Village Restaurant is working hard to reach the highest '5 Star' quality standard the Council gives. The kitchen floor and drainage system were inadequate to enable this standard to be given. Rick from the restaurant and Martin Blunt from MS Contracts worked out a plan whereby the restaurant would close for just 2 days for the work to be completed.
Martin Blunt of MS Contracts said 'we normally resurface this type of floor in food factories up and down the country and they are hundreds of square meters. I know the restaurant well as I am a friend of Chris (the manager) and the food and service are excellent. When Rick (the owner) asked if I could help I was only too pleased to be able to. Understanding that these kinds of places can't have any "down-time" it was important the work was done in the shortest possible time. We carry out all kinds of industrial flooring systems but the resin screed we used here is hygienic, steam cleanable and anti-slip. It's also a great colour the staff helped to choose!
If we at Maintenance Contracts Ltd can assist you in the very near future please don’t hesitate to contact us.

The old floor and drainage system were ripped out and a new 'industry standard' polyurethane screed and coving system was installed. New drainage was installed in the floor at the same time. It was 'business as usual' on the third day.
Rick said 'we lost some trade for the two days but have been busier than usual for the rest of the week and over the Easter Bank Holiday so our takings haven't suffered. It was amazing how the crew of workmen 'set to' and got the job done, working into the night to get it finished. I think this will help enormously to gain the high 5 Star Standard we hope to achieve'. All Restaurants and pubs in the Macclesfield area are being judged by the council in this manner to give the general public an inside knowledge of the cleanliness and quality of the local cuisine on offer.
