What they needed Kwik Fit is one of the largest garage companies in the UK. They have a large number of branches throughout the country. Kwik Fit has been acquired by a large Chinese conglomerate, who are seeking to refurbish and update the appearance of branches. Completing this refurbishment needed a new flooring system to match the upgraded and up to date image that the new owners wanted to put across. The difficulty came in the scheduling – all branches needed to be open between 8am and 6pm every day. What we did Maintenance Contracts needed to be able to re-floor the branches that we had been hired to refurbish as quickly as possible. We decided upon a vacuum shot blast to strip off the old flooring surface as quickly and effectively as possible. We also needed to produce a colour-system to demarcate the different areas of service bays. Initially, we needed to assess how level the different areas of flooring across the branches were. Some were so uneven that they needed to be levelled with a pump-screed product. After all floor surfaces were level enough, we applied a fast curing resin system in a red colour. We used yellow and black lines to highlight and demarcate the different areas within branches. Branches that needed additional work took longer to finish, but most branches only needed a day to be finished. Many different branches have been refurbished to date, across the country.
