Case Study #8

DHL Case Study

What they needed

DHL is one of the largest logistics companies in the UK. They deal with a large number of forklift trucks entering and exiting their facility every day. These forklift trucks were not only causing wear and tear to the floor, but they were bringing in water to the building. This was causing a potential hazardous situation, as the forklifts were at risk of slipping. The area was used at all times, which meant that it was difficult to set aside any area for repair work for longer than a few hours at a time.

What we did

We were not able to risk there being a quantity of dust in the air. As a result, we needed to use vacuum extracting grinders to remove the dust as it was produced. Using diamond grinding, we ground the floor surface down to the flat and stable level that we needed to be able to reapply the floor. We then applied two successive layers of MMA Fast Curing Resin, with an anti-slip aggregate in between. The encapsulated aggregate and resin system was intended to be a cleanable surface. This system was so fast to cure that some of the total floor was able to be used within 5 hours.

Client feedback

The job was completed in time and within budget to a satisfactory standard.
