Universal Bulk Handling (UBH) was the UK’s only tank container manufacturer. They produced large and weighty storage container tanks that are used with road chemical tankers. These are very heavy, weighing as much as several tonnes. As a result of this weight, several areas of the flooring at UBH were in poor condition. The significant weight applied to the flooring in the spray booths had caused major damage, and made the flooring almost unusable.
Due to the significant deterioration in several flooring areas, we needed to remove as much of the existing flooring system as possible. We decided that the best way to do this was with a range of diamond grinding machines. We removed as much of the floor as possible to reduce the flooring system down to a base layer. Then, we secured the substrate with a deep penetrating primer. On top of this, we pumped a high-strength screed level over the whole area, in order to make it perfectly flat. As the area still needed to be used, we had to choose a fast drying screed. Maintenance Contracts were able to achieve a dry finish within 8 hours over the course of a weekend.
The job was completed in time and within budget to a satisfactory standard.
