What they needed Waterworld is one of the largest indoor waterparks in the UK. They have been a fixture for many years, and although still popular, the tiled floors at around the pools were starting to look dated. As part of a greater refurbishment project, Maintenance Contracts worked with Waterworld’s owner Mo Chaudry (of Secret Millionaire fame) to consult on how the pool surroundings could be modernised. We decided upon a surface that resembled a sandy beach. We worked through multiple samples together until we could decide upon a plan that matched Waterworld’s ambitions. What we did Waterworld had a large surface that needed to be re-floored, as well as a demanding production schedule. We needed to vacuum shot blast the surface in order to be able to start relaying the floor. This took place on a Sunday night in order to fit in with the schedule. Then, we applied a DPM Epoxy Resin layer on the same night. By Monday, we were able to install the anti-slip screed. This was essential for a business where water is likely to present a slip hazard. The same evening, we were able to apply the sealing layer in order to finish off the beach effect. This resin layer needed time to drive, but due to our efforts in applying earlier layers, we were able to stick to the timetable that Waterworld were keen on. By Wednesday lunchtime, we had completely finished, and visitors were able to use the new flooring. Client Feedback The job was completed in time to a tight schedule and within budget to a satisfactory standard.
