The shopping centre in Bradford is the latest in a series of modern enormous shopping centres owned by The Westfield Group and opened in the autumn. Maintenance Contracts layed a liquid screed floor to set datum’s before the final layer of tiles were laid. This process was installed over several thousand square meters. MSC did this in areas of 800m2 up to 2500m2 in each visit. This system featured on Sky News as a positive feature of the successful retail industry in Britain.
The process was to vacuum shot blast the floor, apply a resin damp proof membrane, and then to pump the industrial screed in at between 20mm and 30mm in depth. The finished screed can be walked on within 2 to 3 hours depending on the temperature.
The shopping centre floor was finished in time for construction to continue and Westfield was pleased with the outcome.
